boozy birders tour 2008 scillys

A great time birding 15 new birds in fact .
day 1 dottrel as we landed in the plane.
followed by red eyed verio , american golden plover , lapland bunting .
day 2 yellow browed warbler , blackpoll warbler .
day 3 whooper swan , pectoral sandpiper , golden pheasant , raddes warbler .
day 4 crossbill , olive backed pipit , red breasted flycatcher , sociable lapwing .
day 5 cirl bunting .

american golden plover Dip

I went to elmley marsh in hope of seeing the american golden plover but dipped . But when I got there the chance of some good photos out the car window was good . I soon found a little egret close by and snapped it up .

On the walk back from the hides I spotted some wheatear which made that long walk worth while , my first since the spring cracking birds to see .

East Coast Of Spain

I arrived on the 1st july with my family and bins to the ready with no high expectations of good birding . But on my first walk I was very pleased with my first veiw of a bee eater followed by serin , zitting cisticola , tree sparrow and spotted flycatcher .

With in a few days I was itching to get bigger and better birds so my son and I went to a national park in Oliva north of benidom called pego marsh . It took a while for us to find it but we was pleased with the results purple herons , cattle and little egrets , night heron , blackwinged stilt and hoopoe was soon on the list .

One more trip was on the cards which was calpe where a large rock ( mountain ) stood on the coast the bird life was said to be good sardinian warblers were every where and so was yellow legged gulls on the way I spotted a little owl which was a bonus .

All in all very good holiday and the birding was good .

great white egret

I got news of a great white egret over rainham marshes whilst at work . And decided to it was a must as it was a life tick and it was local .

I got there about 7pm, thanks to paul hawkins I gained entry to the reserve and soon got on the bird.

We had some fantastic views and some distant photos but a great eve birding .

lea valley nightingale

Due to hearing about all the mega's at the weekend and not getting out ! Early Monday morning before work I decided have a walk over lea valley . I heard a nightingale singing and soon got a couple of shots .
