East Coast Of Spain

I arrived on the 1st july with my family and bins to the ready with no high expectations of good birding . But on my first walk I was very pleased with my first veiw of a bee eater followed by serin , zitting cisticola , tree sparrow and spotted flycatcher .

With in a few days I was itching to get bigger and better birds so my son and I went to a national park in Oliva north of benidom called pego marsh . It took a while for us to find it but we was pleased with the results purple herons , cattle and little egrets , night heron , blackwinged stilt and hoopoe was soon on the list .

One more trip was on the cards which was calpe where a large rock ( mountain ) stood on the coast the bird life was said to be good sardinian warblers were every where and so was yellow legged gulls on the way I spotted a little owl which was a bonus .

All in all very good holiday and the birding was good .
